2023 Graduates
Safwaan Chaudhry
Safwaan Chaudhry graduated with a degree in cognitive science with a focus in psychology, human-computer interaction, and artificial intelligence, along with a minor in business administration. He was an enrichment advisor where he mentored first year Terry scholars. Chaudhry also worked as a physical therapy technician for over two years, guiding patients on their path to rehabilitation.
Max Helman
Max Helman graduated cum laude with a bachelor’s in finance. He has been a member of the Filipino Student Association and Chi Phi Fraternity. Helman served as social media coordinator for the Terry Scholars Student Organization his junior year. In the summer of 2022, he interned with a recruitment firm in Dublin, Ireland. After graduation, Helman will intern for an asset management firm in Houston and return to UT Dallas for a master’s in financial technology and analytics.
Yuliana Hernandez-Magana
Yuliana Hernandez-Magana graduated magna cum laude with a degree in biomedical engineering. Hernandez-Magana served as an officer for the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers for two years. She interned at Citi Bank, using Python and Natural Language Processing, while working with a team in Mexico for CitiBanaMex. Hernandez-Magana also interned with Medtronic her senior year as a clinical specialist, guiding hospital staff on product use to treat atrial fibrillation. Hernandez-Magana will pursue a career in medical device sales.
Roger Jahnel
Roger Jahnel graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor’s in political science. He has been a member of the Chi Phi Fraternity, John Marshall Pre-Law Society and Moot Court Team. Jahnel served as social chair, technology chair, and president of the Terry Scholar Student Organization. He participated in the Archer Fellowship during the Spring of 2022 and studied in Lugano, Switzerland his junior year. Jahnel will attend Southern Methodist University’s Dedman School of Law.
Nidaa Lafi
Nidaa Lafi graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor’s in global business and international political economy and a minor in gender studies. She was in involved the Freshman Mentor Program, John Marshall Pre-Law Society, and Students for Justice in Palestine, where she served as president for two years. Lafi spent a semester in Washington, D.C., as an Archer Fellow, interning with Rep. Eddie Bernice Johnson and interned at the Center for Human Rights in Amman, Jordan. Lafi will attend Southern Methodist University’s Dedman School of Law as a Sumners Scholar.
Jessica Limon
Jessica Limon graduated cum laude with a double major in psychology and child learning and development. Limon served as an enrichment advisor for incoming scholars and as a core facilitator with the Fellowship of Christian University Students (FOCUS). She also worked as a preschool teacher and studied in Prague, Czech Republic her junior year. Limon will serve as a campus apprentice with FOCUS at UT Dallas.
Connor Lowe
Connor Lowe graduated cum laude with a degree in marketing. Lowe served as a supplemental instruction leader for microeconomics, as service coordinator for the Terry Scholar’s Student Organization, and as marketing coordinator for the UT Dallas Rugby Club. He was also involved in the Leadership Council for the Professional Program in Marketing. Lowe was a graduation speaker and works as an analyst for Gartner Consulting.
Daemion McKellar
Daemion McKellar graduated cum laude with a degree in Arts, Technology, and Emerging Communications and a minor in creative writing. He also graduated with major honors. McKellar served as a peer mentor for ATEC students and the vice president and service coordinator for the Terry Scholar Student Organization. He participated in service events on/off campus and earned sustainability service honors for over 150 hours of volunteering. McKellar works as a creative producer at a local news channel.
Abby Mejia
Abby Mejia graduated with a degree in accounting and a minor in innovation and entrepreneurship. She will complete her master’s in accounting through the PPA program. Mejia was part of the Freshman Mentor Program, the Undergraduate Accounting Club, the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Women’s Volleyball Club, and volunteered at UT Dallas’ Community Garden. Mejia also served as treasurer and vice president of the Association of Latino Professionals for America. She interned for three summers with PricewaterhouseCoopers, where she will work as an international tax associate.
Yomna Saeed
Yomna Saeed graduated with a bachelor’s in public affairs. She was an Archer Fellow and interned at the White House, where she read casework from constituents all over America. At UT Dallas, Saeed served on the Worsfold Grant Review Committee, as well as an enrichment advisor for the Terry Scholars. She put in countless hours as an advocacy intern with the Human Rights Initiative of North Texas. Saeed will pursue Classical Arabic studies at Qalam Seminary next year while working as the Texas Instruments Founders Leadership fellow at UT Dallas.
Roxanne Sanchez
Roxanne Sanchez graduated with a degree in biomedical engineering. She was part of the transfer program and helped new students acclimate to college life. Sanchez has been part of the student ambassador program, where she served as an enrichment coordinator for two years and received the Judi Hensley Hambi Award for her outstanding dedication. She worked in the Mediquin manikin lab, helping medical students improve ear and eye exams. Sanchez interned with MedCAD her senior year, where she will work as a quality engineer.
Lucas Wick
Lucas Wick graduated with a bachelor’s in electrical engineering and part of the fast-track program. Wick worked in the TRELA lab and competed with the UT Dallas track and field team. Wick served as a first-year mentor and as a peer advisor to incoming Terry scholars for three years. He interned at Raytheon two summers. Wick will pursue a PhD in electrical engineering at UT Dallas.
