Incoming Student Resources

Accept your Collegium V Admission

Collegium V admissions decisions will be emailed to students by mid-March. Admitted students must complete the on-boarding survey, which will be included in their admissions email.

Once students have completed the entire survey, they will be sent a confirmation email that includes important deadlines (pdf) and a link to this website.

It is important to read through and complete all of the required steps by the specified deadlines.

Housing

Incoming students are encouraged to apply for housing as early as possible. The priority deadline for housing is detailed on the First-Year Housing website, but we encourage students to apply now.

Collegium V students who have been assigned on-campus housing will automatically be placed into Honors Housing which is located in Sirius Hall. If you would like to live in a Living Learning Community, you may opt out of Honors Housing. All Collegium V students are welcome to attend CV events in Sirius Hall.

Please note that all completed housing applications received prior to the priority deadline will be considered based on the date of the application. After the priority deadline, consideration will be given based on the date of application and proximity to campus. While incoming Collegium V students are automatically placed into Honors Housing, space is limited and students should apply early. Please visit the First-Year Housing website for more information about applying for on-campus housing.

The first-year housing application will open Nov. 1, 2023.

Honors Orientation

All students must attend Honors Orientation. Please visit the Freshman Orientation website for registration details.

Students must be registered for Honors Orientation and complete the Pre-Orientation Module in eLearning before they can register for classes.

Collegium V Honors Students are able to register for courses with their academic advisor before they attend Honors Orientation, so it is important to check your emails for updates and deadlines.

Please see the Prior to Registration and Early Registration sections below for details on removing holds and the registration process.

Orientation registration will open in February 2024.

Prior to Registration

Holds

All incoming students will have holds on their UT Dallas account that prevent them from registering for classes. These holds are in place to ensure you complete the required steps prior to registration and get all of the necessary documentation submitted to the University. The main holds placed on a new student’s account are listed below:

Meningitis Paperwork Hold: This hold can be removed by submitting a signed shot record and the required documentation through Orion.

Registering for Orientation Hold: This hold can be removed by registering for Honors Orientation and completing the required Pre-Orientation Module through eLearning.

Cannot Register Online Hold: This hold will remain on a student’s account throughout their first year as all new students are required to register with their academic advisor.

International Student Holds: All incoming students born outside the United States must have an IGRA blood test (QuantiFeron or T-Spot) for tuberculosis screening to rule out TB, prior to registering for classes their first semester at UT Dallas. The TB skin test will not be accepted. All international students must also attend International Orientation. You will need to work with your advisor to have your International Orientation hold removed for early registration.

Additional Items

UT Dallas Email: All official UT Dallas correspondence must be conducted through your UTD email. It is important that you begin checking your UTD email daily once you are admitted to Collegium V. We will send updates and reminders about upcoming deadlines that need to be completed in order for you to get registered for classes and honors orientation. Please visit the individual UTD email page if you need assistance setting up your email.

ALEKS Math Placement: Any students wishing to take algebra, applied calculus, trigonometry, pre-calculus or standard calculus must complete the ALEKS Math Placement assessment. Nearly all incoming UT Dallas students are required take the ALEKS Math Placement Exam. If you have AP scores on record with UT Dallas, you do not have to complete the ALEKS. If you are waiting for scores from senior year, it is recommended that you complete the ALEKS now to avoid delays in registration. You can find more information including a helpful FAQ on the ALEKS exam site. Students must take the ALEKS Math Placement Exam proctored.

CS Placement Test: All students with majors in the Erik Jonsson School of Engineering and Computer Science are required to take at least one programming course (CS/CE 1337 or CS 1325 depending on your major). Students have the option to bypass the prerequisite courses by passing the C++ Computer Science Placement Test, which you may take once. If you believe you have AP, IB or transfer credit for the prerequisite course, you will need to work with your academic advisor. If you would like to take the CS Placement Test, you will need to review the ECS FAQ page and then reach out to your academic advisor for assistance.

Test & Transfer Credit: For AP, IB and CLEP credit, UT Dallas must receive an official score report from the testing agency that provided the examination. UT Dallas does not accept examination credit from other higher education institution transcripts. All official scores should be submitted to UT Dallas as soon as they are available. For transfer credit earned at a community college or other university, students must submit an official transcript to UT Dallas. It is important to submit all completed scores and transcripts prior to registration; please submit any scores or transcripts from the spring or summer semesters as soon as they are available. Once you begin taking classes at UT Dallas, you must have all off-campus courses pre-approved with your academic advisor.

Freshman Mentor Program: Incoming first-year students are encouraged to request a Freshman Mentor. The mission of the Freshman Mentor Program is to increase academic engagement, involvement in the campus community and Comet spirit while assisting freshmen with the transition to college life. In the Freshman Mentor Program, incoming freshman are provided a personal mentor who will meet with them regularly during their first two semesters at UT Dallas.
