Study Abroad

Study Abroad allows students to earn academic credit while studying and living in another country. We partner with the Office of International Education on multiple programs from which students can choose to study abroad for a semester, a summer or even a full year.

Funding Options

National Merit Scholars Funding

  • Each National Merit Scholar in good academic standing is eligible for a one-time award of up to $6,000 if you started during or before fall 2024 or up to $4,000 if you began fall 2025 or later for an international study abroad experience.
  • Must receive approval from the Education Abroad (EA) office to receive funding.
  • Final award is determined by the cost of attendance provided by EA office.

International Center

  • A wide range of scholarships and other funding options are available within and outside UT Dallas.
  • There are many creative ways to fund an overseas trip.
  • Gap opportunities also are a possibility.

Terry Scholars Funding

  • Scholars in good academic standing are eligible for $5,000 study abroad funding.
  • Program span: 2-14 weeks.
  • Earn a minimum of 3 credit hours.
  • GPA requirements: 3.0 cumulative and 2.5 every semester.

Phi Kappa Phi

  • PKP Study Abroad Grants are designed to help support undergraduates as they seek knowledge and experience in their academic fields by studying abroad.
  • One hundred twenty-five $1,000 grants are awarded each year.
  • Applicants do not have to be Society members but must attend an institution with an active Phi Kappa Phi chapter.
