National Merit Scholars Program Policies

Study Abroad

Each National Merit Scholar in good academic standing is eligible for a one-time award of up to $6,000 if you started during or before Fall 2024 or up to $4,000 if you began Fall 2025 or later for an international study abroad experience. The student must receive approval from the UT Dallas Office of International Education (OIE). Students should plan to travel before their final semester at UTD. After receiving approval from OIE, the NMSP Study Abroad Stipend Application will appear in their EA Portal. The final award amount is based on the cost of attendance of the program as determined by OIE.
