Honors Council and Lounge

Collegium V Executive Council

Collegium V Executive Council members in 2024-25: front row, from left, Lily Nguyen, Ethan Conner and Anna Ernst; back row, from left, Liam Nichols, Matthew Bidwell, Lulu Cheng and Devin Schwartz. Not pictured: Giana Abraham.

Collegium V students play a major role in the operations of the honors program. An Executive Council is elected every spring by the students to assist the director in planning the honors curriculum, operating the lounge, managing the program’s computers and scheduling extracurricular social activities.

The Collegium V Constitution provides a framework for the privileges and responsibilities of the Executive Council and Collegium V members.

Lounge Has Family Feel

The Honors Lounge is like a second home for many Honors College students. It’s a place to study, socialize and even collaborate on a jigsaw puzzle.

Ethan Conner

My name is Ethan Conner and I’m a senior math and physics double major as well as this year’s speaker! I am also a National Merit student director/ambassador and front desk attendant for the Honors College. I enjoy reading (a lot of fantasy), learning Vietnamese and watching movies. I also play disc golf most weekends.

Anna Ernst

Hi! I’m Anna Ernst, a senior majoring in math and computer science. I am the secretary of CV Council and a National Merit Ambassador, and outside of the Honors College I work in Peer Tutoring on campus. In my free time I like to read, cook/consume fruit desserts and hang out in
the Honors Lounge.

Giana Abraham

I’m Giana Abraham, a junior neuroscience major with minors in political science and visual arts. Outside of CV, I’m involved in the American Medical Women’s Association, the Freshman Mentor Program and research in the Kroener Lab. In my little free time, I enjoy teaching myself how to skateboard and play guitar (not concurrently) and enjoy reading from my ever-growing list of book recommendations. In the fall, I will be off to D.C. for a semester with the Archer Fellowship. I’m always down to fuel my boba addiction, so don’t hesitate to reach out if you’d like to meet up!

Lulu Cheng

Hey, guys! My name is Lulu Cheng, a sophomore who just switched from data science to business analytics. I’m always running around on campus, so you’ll probably bump into me a lot, and my job as distribution manager of our school newspaper means sometimes I’m in a golf cart! I love cooking, playing piano, swimming and yapping. I look forward to meeting all of you, and I’m always free to chat and hang out!

Devin Schwartz

Devin Schwartz

Hi, my name is Devin Schwartz, and I’m a senior majoring in philosophy and political science with a minor in computer science on the pre-law track. Outside of the Honors College, I’m also the president of Student Government and involved with Moot Court. When I can find free time, I enjoy playing Tetris, reading and getting boba with friends. I’ll usually be in my office across from the Galaxy rooms, running between classes or in one of the lounges around campus, so feel free to stop by and say hi!

Lily Nguyen

My name is Lily Nguyen, and I’m a chemistry senior on the pre-MD/PhD track. On campus, I am a National Merit Ambassador and TA for Dr. John Sibert’s honors general chemistry class. I also volunteer at a free clinic on the weekends and work in an RNA lab at UT Southwestern. In my free time, I enjoy cross stitching, playing board games and trying new places to eat. I hope to see y’all around in the Honors Lounge!

Liam Nichols

Hi, my name is Liam Nichols. I’m a junior majoring in math and philosophy and am this year’s treasurer! I enjoy playing board games, reading, languages and being outside. On campus, I help run the transit advocacy organization Comets for Better Transit as well as the unicycle club. I’m in the Lounge pretty frequently and love meeting new people, so please don’t hesitate to say hi!

Matthew Bidwell

Hi! I’m Matthew Bidwell, a sophomore majoring in mathematics on the statistics track. Outside of CV, I’m involved in Student Government, Comet Cubing Club, and the Actuarial Student Association. In my mostly nonexistent free time, I love to read, cook, play card and board games, make origami and try new foods. I love meeting new people, so please say hi if you see me around campus!

Honors Lounge

One of the benefits of being in the Hobson Wildenthal Honors College is gaining access to the Honors Lounge. Located in the Physics Annex (PHA), the Lounge is the place where Honors students come together to work and socialize 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

The Lounge features five rooms: two computer rooms, the Clark Reading Library, a TV/video room and a small kitchen.

If you are having issues with accessing the Honors Lounge, please email collegiumv@utdallas.edu or bring your Comet Card to the Honors College office (PHY).

The Honors Lounge is located in the Physics Annex.
