Honors Council and Lounge

Honors College Executive Council

Honors College students play a major role in the operations of the honors program. An Honors College Executive Council is elected every spring by the students to assist the director in planning the honors curriculum, operating the lounge, managing the program’s computers and scheduling extracurricular social activities.

The Honors Council Constitution provides a framework for the privileges and responsibilities of the Executive Council and Collegium V members.

Lounge Has Family Feel

The Honors Lounge is like a second home for many Honors College students. It’s a place to study, socialize and even collaborate on a jigsaw puzzle.

Liam Nichols

Hi, my name is Liam. I’m a senior majoring in math and philosophy, and this year’s speaker! I’m a big fan of board games (my current favorite is Go), language learning and music. On campus I’m an officer for the philosophy club and a (regrettably infrequent) unicyclist. I’m in the lounge pretty often and love meeting new people, so please don’t hesitate to say hi!

Matthew Bidwell

Hi! I’m Matthew, a junior majoring in mathematics on the statistics track. I’m excited to be serving as this year’s treasurer! Outside of Honors, I’m involved in the Actuarial Student Association, Comet Cubing Club, Model UN, Freshman Mentor Program, and I’m a National Merit Student Director. In my mostly nonexistent free time, I love to cook, bake, read, play volleyball, make origami, and try new foods. I love meeting new people, so please say hi if you see me around campus!

Meghana Vadlamudi

Hello! My name is Meghana and I’m a junior majoring in molecular biology with minors in public health and political science. I’m also this year’s secretary on the Honors Council! I’m involved in UEMR, UTD’s Global Health Case Competition, and research in the Obaid Lab; I’m also a Spring 2026 Archer Fellow. Outside of school, I enjoy being outdoors, skateboarding (poorly), and meeting new people!

Srinidhi Valathappan

Hi! I’m Srinidhi, a sophomore in healthcare management with a minor in political science. On campus, I’m involved with the Mentoring Program and National Merit Ambassadors. Outside of Honors, I enjoy practicing with the taekwondo club, or playing the violin. When not tackling my never-ending TBR-list, I’m always on the hunt for a new puzzle to solve or writing one of my many forever-in-progress stories. I’d love to chat, so please say hi if you see me!

Lulu Cheng

Hey, guys! My name is Lulu Cheng, a junior in business analytics. Besides council, I also help robotics make cool robots! I’m always running around on campus, so you’ll probably bump into me a lot, and my job as distribution manager of our school newspaper means sometimes I’m in a golf cart! I love cooking, playing piano, swimming and yapping. I look forward to meeting all of you, and I’m always free to chat and hang out!

Leah Sullivan

Hi! My name is Leah, and I’m a senior studying International Political Economy and Mathematics. On campus, I’m a National Merit Ambassador and a Student Ambassador. I enjoy going to the Dallas Arts District, doing puzzles, swimming at UREC, cooking, and listening to Disney and Broadway soundtracks. I usually study in the lounge between classes, and I love to chat, so please feel free to say hi if you see me around campus!

Giana Abraham

I’m Giana Abraham, a junior majoring in neuroscience and psychology with a minor in political science. Beyond honors, I’m involved in Student Government, University Emergency Medical Response (UEMR), and research in the Kroener Lab. In my little free time, I’ve learned how to skateboard and play guitar (not concurrently), and enjoy reading my ever-growing list of book recommendations. I’m an Archer alum and have wandered the globe through a few study abroad adventures, so I’m always happy to swap stories or help out!

Akshansh Chauhan

Hello. My name is Akshansh, and I’m a sophomore majoring in physics and mathematics! In my free time I enjoy hiking, playing the flute, and underwatering the variety of plants that grow profusely on my porch. When not reading science fiction, you can catch me reading regular fiction, and also Fridays at 7pm at the philosophy club.

Honors Lounge

One of the benefits of being in the Hobson Wildenthal Honors College is gaining access to the Honors Lounge. Located in the Physics Annex (PHA), the Lounge is the place where Honors students come together to work and socialize 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

The Lounge features five rooms: two computer rooms, the Clark Reading Library, a TV/video room and a small kitchen.

If you are having issues with accessing the Honors Lounge, please email collegiumv@utdallas.edu or bring your Comet Card to the Honors College office (PHY).

The Honors Lounge is located in the Physics Annex.
