Terry Scholars® at UTD
The Terry Foundation®, based in Houston, is the largest provider of private scholarships in the state of Texas, awarding funding to over 6,500 scholars statewide.
Established in 1986 by philanthropists Howard and Nancy Terry to help students attain their higher education goals, the Terry Foundation’s mission is to improve and develop Texas students by helping them attend the state’s finest public universities.
The Terry Foundation currently supports over 1,000 students at 11 affiliated institutions.
Scholarship Details
The scholarship covers the full cost of attendance, up to eight semesters; this includes tuition, fees, meal plan, housing, textbooks and other educational expenses. The Terry Foundation also provides $5,000 for scholars to study abroad. For more information, visit the Terry Foundation website.
Leadership Development
Terry Scholars at UT Dallas participate in a variety of leadership development programs and activities, including mentorship programs, retreats and workshops.
Service Opportunities
Our scholars have many opportunities to continue their dedication to community service and civic engagement. The Terry Scholars Student Organization offers monthly service and social activities.

We seek candidates with a demonstrated history of involvement in activities, outstanding scholastic achievement, demonstrated financial need and a well-rounded personality marked by a desire to succeed.
