Liberal Arts Honors: Applications & Requirements

The Liberal Arts Honors experience in the Hobson Wildenthal Honors College at The University of Texas at Dallas is a cohort program for students majoring in select disciplines in the Harry W. Bass Jr. School of Arts, Humanities, and Technology (AHT); the School of Economics, Political, and Policy Sciences (EPPS); and the School of Interdisciplinary Studies (IS).

Applications are open to incoming freshmen who have been admitted to UT Dallas in one of the majors listed below. To request an application, email liberalarts@utdallas.edu. The application will open in February.

  • Interdisciplinary Studies

* Undeclared majors considering one or more of the above majors are also eligible.

Admission Requirements

Students either must be ranked in the top 10% of their high school or have a 3.6 GPA in high school.

Program Requirements

New Liberal Arts Honors students are required to complete the following courses during their first fall semester:

  • GOVT 2306.HN1: State and Local Government (LAHC Section)
  • HONS 3109.HN1: Liberal Arts Readings (LAHC Section)

The Liberal Arts program will continue to offer readings courses in subsequent semesters, but enrollment in those courses is optional.

Application Information

Additionally, students must request and complete a short Liberal Arts Honors cohort application. The review committee will consider information submitted during the University application process.
